Preparation First

A readiness-oriented process before the market process begins.

Owner-Led Businesses

Focused on closely held companies across Greater Cincinnati and the tri-state region.

Financially Grounded

Deloitte audit and financial leadership experience, applied to how buyers and lenders will review the business.

Before the listing

Most business sales aren't won at the listing stage.

They're often shaped before the first buyer sees the opportunity.

Serious buyers look beyond revenue. They ask whether the financial story is clear, whether the business can transfer without the owner, whether the leases, contracts and records are organized, and whether diligence will confirm or weaken their confidence.

That's where Main Street Exit Partners begins.

MSEP helps owners prepare before going to market so the business can be presented clearly and with fewer avoidable surprises.

Who MSEP Helps

For owners thinking seriously about a sale or eventual exit.

Main Street Exit Partners works with owners of established, privately held businesses in Greater Cincinnati who are starting to plan a sale, retirement, or succession.

MSEP may be a good fit if you're concerned about confidentiality, unsure how a qualified buyer may view your business, wondering what buyers will scrutinize during diligence, or trying to reduce owner dependence before going to market.

It may also fit if you're working through family or partner alignment and want to understand the process before committing to it.

You don't need to be ready to sell tomorrow.

In many cases, the best time to start the conversation is before you're fully ready. Owners who start early tend to have more time to address what matters and avoid surprises when serious buyers appear.

What Buyers Care About

Revenue matters. It's only part of the story.

Qualified buyers also look at customer concentration and how much of the business runs through you personally.

MSEP helps owners look at the business the way a buyer will, before sensitive information is released, and prepare answers to the questions buyers predictably ask.

Financial Story

Buyers want to understand whether the earnings story remains clear under careful review and whether the financial information supports the way the business is being presented.

Transferability

Owner dependence, employee stability, customer relationships, and operational continuity all influence whether buyers believe the business can transition successfully.

Documentation and Diligence

Organized records, clear reporting, lease and contract visibility, and preparedness for diligence questions help reduce friction once buyers begin deeper review.

Confidentiality

Serious buyers expect a controlled process. MSEP runs confidentiality as a system, starting with a blind profile and an NDA before anything identifying is shared.

Confidential Positioning

Serious buyers evaluate the business long before an offer is written.

Buyers form opinions quickly, well before formal diligence begins.

When a business goes to market unprepared, buyer questions get harder to answer and documentation gaps slow the deal down.

Main Street Exit Partners was built around preparation before exposure, so the business is ready for buyer review before the first buyer sees it.

Common questions

What owners ask first.

What does Main Street Exit Partners do?

Main Street Exit Partners (MSEP) is a preparation-first business brokerage for owner-led companies in Greater Cincinnati and the tri-state region. It helps an owner get the business ready for buyers and their lenders, then runs a confidential sale through closing. Business and real estate transactions are brokered by eXp Commercial, LLC.

What size businesses does Main Street Exit Partners work with?

Established, owner-led companies with a few years of results, typically in the $1M to $10M range by sale price. Main Street Exit Partners specializes in distribution, chemical and light manufacturing, and construction and the trades, including electrical, HVAC and plumbing, and works with other industries too. If your business is smaller, reach out anyway.

Do I need a business broker to sell my business?

No law requires one. Owners do sell on their own, most often to an employee, a family member or a competitor who made an offer. A broker is worth the fee when the sale needs a confidential search for buyers, a business prepared for a lender's review, and someone to run the process while the owner keeps running the company. A first conversation with Main Street Exit Partners will show which situation you're in.

Start with readiness

Thinking about selling in the next few years?

You don't need to have everything figured out. Start with a private conversation about where things stand and what buyers are likely to care about.

Your inquiry is handled confidentially. MSEP won't contact employees, customers, competitors, lenders, vendors, landlords, or potential buyers without your authorization.
